She is an effective teaching professional with extensive experience with students from different backgrounds. She has 35 years of teaching and research at the university level. She has written 3 books and 40 journal articles in the fields of Sociolinguistics, Composition Writing, and Applied linguistics. Prof. Amina Abubakar Bashir has supervised over 150 undergraduates, 10 postgraduates, (4 Ph.D. and 7 M.A.) She has been at one time or the other either Editor-in-Chief or on the Editorial Board of: Dutse Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kafin Hausa Journal of Humanities, Festschrift in Honour of Prof. Aliyu Mohammed, Department of Maiduguri Seminar Series, University of Maiduguri Journal of Women Studies and Yobe State Journal of Arts. Prof. Amina Bashir has served on various university and national committees. She is patron or member of different professional, occupational and social organizations, the apex of which is the Nigerian Academy of Letters.
